Welcome to this week’s edition of Curbed Comparisons, where we usually look at different houses around the city all in one price range. This week, we’re changing it up and seeing what’s for sale in one of Detroit’s most well-known historic neighborhoods—Boston-Edison. Which home would you choose? Vote in our poll below.
This stately five bedroom, two bath brick home has recently been renovated with a new kitchen, hardwood floors, new light fixtures, and plenty of marble. The third floor suite includes a claw-foot bathtub with a chandelier above it. Fancy! It also has two sun rooms, a backyard with a garage, and storage in the basement. It sits just west of the Lodge.
This new four-bedroom listing needs some love, but it has a lot to work with and pretty good price to get into the neighborhood. This house could use some exterior work and a new kitchen, and the third floor is wide open for renovation. It has great wood beams, hardwood floors, a beautiful staircase, and nice built-ins throughout. It’s just east of the Lodge, a few blocks from Woodward.
Just down the street is a recent flip on a double lot. It has three bedrooms, two full and two half baths, new cabinets and counter tops in the kitchen, a basement for more living space or storage, and a garage. It’s right off the Lodge and just a block away from Voigt Park.
Also on Longfellow is this knockout with wallpaper, a finished bar in the basement, and character galore. This bold four bedroom house has three full and two half baths, a finished third floor, color everywhere, built-ins, and a garage.
We also checked out this recently renovated brick home recently (we even have some before shots). This roomy house has six bedrooms, three and a half baths, a fireplace in the living room, built-ins in the dining room, and a backyard.
