Last summer, LinkedIn announced that they’d be opening their first office in the U.S. in ten years in Detroit. Now, we know where that will be. 13 employees have been working out of a temporary space since October, and once renovations are completed, the team will set up their offices in the historic Sanders Building on Lower Woodward.

LinkedIn says their Detroit team has grown to 40 employees since moving here last fall, and they’re still hiring. The new building will have 74,500 square feet of space, and renovations should be complete within the next year.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have found our permanent office space in Detroit,” says LaRon Johnson, head of LinkedIn Detroit. “Since opening our office last fall, the city of Detroit has embraced and welcomed us into the community. The vibrant energy and dynamic talent we have found here has been remarkable and we look forward to a long future of working together to create economic opportunity for our employees, the city, and our company.”
Dan Gilbert purchased both the Sanders and its neighbor, the Grinnell Building, in 2016. Recently, a cornice was put back on the Grinnell Building after 60 years. Last summer, workers revealed the original Sanders sign under an ugly brown facade on the Sanders Building. Both buildings were designed by Albert Kahn.
