Detroit home comparisons: Here’s what $130K buys right now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we look at different homes in various Detroit neighborhoods all within the same price range. This week, we’re looking at houses within $10,000 of our price range: $130,000.






14377 Ashton Road: $125,000

First up is this three-bedroom, one-bath brick colonial in Rosedale Park. The 1,320-square-foot house has dark floors, a newer kitchen, a finished basement, and a balcony overlooking the backyard. Also find a detached garage. It’s located in northwest Detroit, near the Southfield Freeway, and close to shops and restaurants in Grandmont-Rosedale.






4015 Three Mile Drive: $135,000

Over in Morningside, here’s a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home in our price range. It has shiny hardwood floors, a new kitchen, carpeted bedrooms, and a basement for storage. It has a fenced backyard with a garage on a corner lot. This house is located near Grosse Pointe, close to all the east side parks and shopping.





3122 East Lafayette: $129,000

In Elmwood Park closer to downtown, here’s an 850-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bath condo. It has a newer kitchen, A/C, assigned parking, and a basement for storage. HOA fees run $186 per month and include water and exterior maintenance. It’s located close to Belle Isle, Mt. Elliott Park, and Harbortown, just a couple miles outside of downtown.






8011 Appoline Street: $129,900

Our last home takes us to the Aviation Sub, right on the border of Dearborn. This little brick house has a new kitchen, two first floor bedrooms, an upstairs that looks like it’s straight out of the ‘70s, a basement for storage, and a fenced backyard. It’s close to many Dearborn restaurants.
