Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we look at different homes in various neighborhoods all within the same price range. This week, we’re hitting the road and including homes in both Detroit and the suburbs. We’re looking at houses within $10,000 of our price range: $250,000. Which would you choose? We’ll start off right on budget in the middle of Ferndale, with this three bedroom, one-and-a-half bath bungalow. This cute house has a landscaped backyard, a large upstairs bedroom with wood beams, and a basement for either storage or extra living space. It’s located just off of Woodward, close to restaurants and shops in downtown Ferndale.

Also on budget is this brick house in the Boston-Edison neighborhood of Detroit. This home will give you space—it spans over 3,100 square feet. It will need cosmetic upgrades, but still has character in tact like French doors, a tiled fireplace, and original bathroom features. It has five bedrooms and three baths, plus a rec room in the basement. It’s located in a historic neighborhood and it’s a quick drive to restaurants and sports in downtown Detroit.
20691 Wedgewood Drive, Grosse Pointe Woods: $249,900
Here’s a 1,400-square-foot ranch on the east side in Grosse Pointe Woods. It’s located not too far from Lake St. Clair and close to Grosse Pointe North High School.

The house also has a deck in the backyard and a two-car garage. It’s located a few blocks off of Woodward, close to Meininger Park.

And this cute house in Berkley has three bedrooms, two baths, an updated kitchen, a breakfast nook, hardwood floors, a finished basement, and a two-car garage. It’s located near Eleven Mile and Coolidge Highway, close to many restaurants and retail.
