Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Detroit neighborhoods. This week we’re looking at rentals within $100 of today’s price: $1,350.
4305 Trumbull #2S
Remember the JD Baer house? It was abandoned for 50 years, and we visited during and after a complete renovation. A one-bedroom, one-bath unit is currently available in the very recognizable Woodbridge home. Inside, find newer finishes, high efficiency heating and cooling, and historic charm. It’s located near Wayne State, Midtown, and Corktown, and it’s listing for $1,300 per month.
4600 Woodward Avenue, Apartment 204
Our price range will get you a number of studios in Midtown, including one in the Garfield Building. This one is located right on Woodward and the Qline, close to Wayne State, the MOCAD, the DIA, Whole Foods, and more. Gas and water is included here; cats are allowed, but not dogs. Rent is $1,270 per month.
1651 Atkinson #2
Need more room? This three-bedroom flat on Atkinson Street has 1,400 square feet of space, including a formal dining room, a sun room, and a charming living room. It’s located just south of Boston-Edison, west of the Lodge. Rent is $1,350 per month, but utilities are a flat $200 fee.
560 East Philadelphia Street
Must love grey and white for this North End rental. This four-bedroom house is the largest at 2,300 square feet, and is running high for our budget at $1,400 per month, plus utilities. It’s right in the middle of the neighborhood, close to Woodward, I-75, Boston-Edison, and the North End.
2900 East Jefferson, Apartment A1
And near the Riverfront, here’s a one bedroom, one bath unit at the Garden Court Apartments. This 1,000-square-foot apartment has pretty neutral colors and carpeting. It’s a short walk to the river, a couple miles from downtown, and close to Belle Isle. It’s listed for $1,300 per month, plus electric and gas.
