Source: Curbed Detroit
Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we look at different homes in various Detroit neighborhoods all within the same price range. This week, we’re looking at houses within $10,000 of our price range: $130,000.
17196 Prairie Street: $129,900
First up is this rehabbed Bagley brick home. Inside, find three bedrooms, some lovely ceiling details, wild wallpaper and tile in one bathroom, a new kitchen, a fireplace in the living room, modern light fixtures, dark wood trim, new plumbing and electric, and a basement for storage. It’s close to the intersection of McNichols and Livernois, near Marygrove, the Avenue of Fashion, and UofD Mercy.
4070 Fullerton Street: $135,000
Here’s a similar home in size and structure in Russell Woods. Also with three bedrooms and one-and-a-half baths, this house has a fireplace—and mirrors—in the living room, built-ins in the dining room, a new kitchen, a newer roof, and a basement for storage. It could use some work with the driveway and fencing. It’s located near Livernois and I-96 in the historic neighborhood.
18114 Ohio Street: $125,000
Here’s an unusual looking house in the Bagley neighborhood. It also has three bedrooms and one-and-a-half baths, with a new kitchen and a fireplace in the living room. It also has a fenced-in yard on a corner lot. It’s right in between Livernois and the Lodge, near Marygrove College.
279 Chalmers Street: $135,000
Over in Jefferson-Chalmers, here’s a cute three bedroom, two bath home. This also has a fireplace with built-ins surrounding, plenty of room in the living areas, large bedrooms, and a fenced backyard. It’s close to the expanding retail on East Jefferson, river-adjacent parks, and Grosse Pointe Park.
